I helped out yesterday at the Skills USA regional competition. This is a competition amongst the High Schools in the Tri-County area, they compete in different facetts of Police work. They perform a traffic stop, handle a domestic, participate in an oral interview and take a written test.

I was impressed with the job they did and the enthusiasim of the people there to support the event. The winner will go on to a State competition and that winner will go on to compete Nationally. Good luck to our local area winners and congratulations to all those who made it to the regionals.

Stacy, Heather and Stumpy are accomplished dispatchers and hopefully they will all be on the TOD Team once we get it started.

TOD TEAM

I am in the process of starting a Incident Dispatch Team or as we are calling it a Tactical Operations Dispatch Team. We work for a small agency in County Government but we fill big shoes. All our dispatchers are trained in both Police and Fire /EMS dispatch. We dispatch for the Sheriff's Office and the local State Police Barracks. On the other side we have 6 VFR Companies, one Ambulance company and on ALS company as well as a dive team and hazmat response team. While we are busy with our dispatch duties we also handle all the 911 calls for our County and several administrative lines. As you can imagine it can be quite busy at times.

The TOD Team will take the burden of major incidents off the radio room allowing those working to handle the more routine day to day operations and provide the best possible level of service.
